چکیده

Several parallel programming languages, libraries and environments have been developed to ease the task of writing programs for multiprocessors. Proponents of each approach often point out various language features that are designed to provide the programmer with a simple programming interface. However, virtually no data exists that quantitatively evaluates the relative ease of use of different parallel programming languages. The following paper borrows techniques from the software engineering field to quantify the complexity of three predominate programming models: shared memory, message passing and HighPerformance Fortran. It is concluded that traditional software complexity metrics are effective indicators of the relative complexity of parallel programming languages. The impact of complexity on run-time performance is also discussed in the context of messagepassing versus HPF on an IBM SP2.

Implementation of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms by means of GPU-parallel processing in the Kuda environment (Research Article)

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of audio signals is critical in different areas, including electronic war, sonar, etc. The beamforming methods like Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR), Delay-and-Sum (DAS), and subspace-based Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) are the most known DOA estimation techniques. The mentioned methods have high computational complexity. Hence using...

Analyzing Compute Performance Across Languages and Hardware

There are thousands of programming languages in existence, with at least dozens or hundreds of these in common use in a broad range of industries and applications. Different languages offer different strengths and weaknesses along many dimensions that programmers may care about, including safety, performance, portability, developer productivity, and so on. The objective of this project is to ex...

Task Complexity Manipulation and Accuracy in Writing Performance

This study aimed to investigate the impact of task sequencing, along +/- reasoning demands dimension, on writing task performance in terms of accuracy.  The study was motivated by Robinson’s Cognition Hypothesis (CH) as well as previous studies investigating the relationships between task complexity and second language production. The participants of the study were 90 intermediate students at t...
